But, under duress, I did come up with a piece of advice that I think works.
Laugh every hour.
Laugh. Laugh with kids when they're being funny. Laugh at yourself when you do something stupid. Laugh at your colleagues when they tell you a joke. Get pleasure out of life. Even when the shit hits the fan -- and, I promise, it will -- laugh. Every situation has some sort of irony or humor in it. Find that humor. Find the laughter.
Sometimes you have to laugh as you're crying.
Laughter is what makes teaching work.

I only laugh once every hour when I'm around you. Want to move to Nowhere, Wisconsin?
