I'm sent back to that day. 2001.
I was tutoring, like most other days.
I walked downstairs and saw the images on the television.
A plane. A building.
What a horrible accident, I thought.
Something must have happened to the pilot.
Later, we huddled in the writing center.
We watched CNN for hours.
Our cell phones didn't work, and I worried for my family.
News of the Pentagon came in.
News of the crash in Pennsylvania.
I walked home, later, and saw a car of college boys.
They flew an American flag out of their window.
I cried for the patriotism that was suddenly shown.
And I cried because it took a tragedy to show it.
NGS has some memories of that day, too.
