The different types of cards amuse me, as well. The majority are Shutterfly-esque pictures, emblazoned with "Merry Christmas, Love Shelly, Billy, Lisa and Blake". Some have professional pictures on them, some are more homemade, and still others are store-bought and impersonal. The best ones, though, have letters included.
The letters list each family member and tout their respective accomplishments from the past year. "Belinda is a genius at work and has gotten 17 promotions!" "Luke mastered the accordion and can speak 7 new languages!" "Harry received the Silver metal in Archery at the Olympics!". What's not listed are the uncomfortable parts of the year... "Melissa was in jail for trespassing", or "Myles still can't read, and he's 15", or "Steven has his 3rd affair"... because, of course, why would you put that? You want to show off for the year and keep everyone striving to be like you.
Anyway, I'm tickled to have so many people with my address this year, and I appreciate the cards that simply wish me well, and don't try to make me feel like my life is bereft of meaning.

We put all our cards in a display in one of our doorways and I love seeing all of them. They were late coming this year, but then there were a lot of them! So much love! And denial of jail time!
