We go somewhere -- somewhere that often has rapid transit, somewhere that we don't know too much about -- and we stay for a weekend or so.
Each time, one of us makes the plans. Recently, we went to Nashville, and NGS kept the big binder. The time before, we went to NYC, and I complied a binder (that had better organization, if you must know).
Sometimes we fly in. Sometimes, one or both of us drives.
We almost always get lost.
Every time, we have the same goals.
1. Hang out together.
... and then, much less importantly...
2. See cool things.
3. Eat yummy things.
4. Buy stuff.
You know how, sometimes, when you meet with old friends, you're checking the clock and kind of looking forward to when it's over? How it's a little bit awkward when you don't have as much in common?
It's never like that with us. It's always this other world, with laughter and few responsibilities. We don't get angry with each other. We don't argue about what to do. In NYC, I needed to go to Harlem. She went and took pictures and ate with me at a soul food joint. In Nashville, she was dying to go to the Grand Ol' Opry. I went on the tour and to a show and was delighted to see her so delighted. In Chicago, we played with statues in the park and ate cucumber cream cheese at a bagel place and convinced the Science Museum guy that we were both teachers so we got in free. In Cleveland, we got lost and ended up driving in circles. It doesn't matter where we are or what we do.
Because -- see #1 -- it's all about being TOGETHER.
And there's no one else I'd rather be with.
NGS wrote about me!

There has never been a binder as organized as the Nashville binder. Don't tell lies!
