6.2: Animals -- Trick or Treating!

They're like animals, the little ones, running from door to door, ringing the bell, screaming out "Trick or Treat!" at the top of their lungs. We did it two nights this year, once with my friend Mary and her son and SC, and once with boyfriend and SC (near my friend Gail's house). The candy isn't really as important as the experience.

The best part, as an adult, is waving at the adults handing out candy and making small talk. Many of them are parents of my students, so we know each other just a little. I make sure that SC doesn't take too much candy and check that he's said "thank you", and then he scampers on to the next house while I comment on the fire or the beer or the house of the current house.

After a while, it gets pretty boring. Luckily, SC also gets bored pretty quickly, so it didn't take too long. And now we have all this candy. Yay!
