There's no more "what could have been".
Instead, I see how different he is than me.
How stiff. How uncomfortable in his own skin.
He's kind; he makes jokes; he smiles.
He loves the kid, which is great.
But I feel no attraction.
No loss.
Instead, I feel pity.
He's alone.
He may always be alone.
There are layers to him.
Layers upon layers.
I hope that someone can sort it out.
I could not.
And I can honestly say that I tried.
No pain for NGS, I hope.
